Wayland Earth Day Celebration This Sunday April 11th 11-2

Finishing touches are being carried out in preparation for the Wayland Earth Day Celebration this Sunday April 11th from 11 –2 at the Wayland Town Building courtyard. Smokey the Bear will walk through the crowd meeting children of all ages, turtle hatchlings will make their grand appearance, lively interactive play at the cake walk station will delight the children, and numerous activities including seedling planting, face painting and creating handmade crafts such as musical instruments, bird feeders and tool boxes will engage every member of the family. Joules the Energy Magician will inform us about energy conservation while entertaining the crowds 1-2pm.

Adults will enjoy a nature walk guided by world-renowned naturalist, lecturer, eco tourism guide and author of 15 books on North American and African wildlife, Peter Alden. In addition, over 35 local environmentally friendly organizations and businesses will be available to describe their missions.

Food will be available for purchase including pastries and coffee in the morning, and lemonade and pizza at lunch. Please also look for the impressive selection of items that will be available for raffle sales. All proceeds will be used to bring environmentally friendly products and services into Wayland schools.
