"Step It Up 2007" Planning Meeting - 3/11/07

Attendees: Joan Parrish, Donna Hazard, David Mordecai, Susan Vick, Debbie Slotpole, Martie Fiske, Jane Bindley .

Discussion: School Vacation begins Apr.13, so national date for Step It Up on the 14th is not great for us. High School participation has not been forthcoming and therefore Band, Dance Group, and student groups are not in the picture. Weather and appealing to townspeople to come to an event were concerns. Why not go to where where the people will be on a Sat. in April rain or shine?

Decision: Table with information at Omni. Possibly additional tables at the Kendal Green parking lot for Transfer Station traffic or Dragon Books area.

Information: Energy Saving Tips. Possible donation of free fluorescent bulbs for first people to come to the tables. Examples of household items: power surge strips, programmable thermostats NStar audits. Info on state and federal legislation. Recruiting new members.

School Science Fair: 3/23 Woodland School 6-8pm.
The Weston Climate Group, thanks to Rudy's initiative, has been okayed to have a table at the fair. Martie has planned a Global Warming Challenge Quiz for students and Jane will have a Travel from Home to Town Center exercise with carbon calculation. Additional volunteer helping hands would be welcomed for this evening event. Should be great fun. Nina
Danforth has volunteered.
